Safely ‘Home’

Mike Maloney's Return Home

Mike Maloney’s nice shot of Cambria’s Return Home at the end of the 2012 cxharter season

Friend of Cambria and ‘Red Sails’ film maker, Mike Maloney supplies tonight’s picture after he was on the ‘receiving end’ of Cambria’s last charter of 2012. He was there to see her tugged back up Faversham Creek and safely home. Thanks for that, Mike. It has a lovely, end of voyage, evening feel to it.

On this charter, Tim Goldsack was Skipper and Ryan Dale, Denis Johnson and Julie Brooks were crew. Thank you very much for that you guys and to all other Skippers and Crew who have looked after our old girl this year.

Last Charter of 2012

Last Charter 2012

Last Charter 2012, picture by Dave Brooks.

Dave Brooks has posted this lovely shot on Facebook, about which he writes, “Cambria leaving Gravesend this evening (Friday 12th Oct), bound for Faversham for the winter. Its been a satisfying season with two barge match wins a return to Pin Mill and Ipswich highlights. Thank you to all the crews who have sailed in her this season, the volunteers who have kept her going and our sponsors the Rotary Club for their continued sponsorship support.” Dave’s wife Julie B is aboard for this charter, acting as one of the crew so I expect there was a bit of hankie waving in between the camera stuff.

Friend of the Cambria and maker of the excellent “Red Sails” film Mike Maloney adds “What a Great Sight” and I think no more needs to be said!

Tricia Gurnett posts that she has “Spent 3 great days this week helping on Cambria, moored at Town Pier, Gravesend. Had some lovely people come to see us who were all very interested in what we were showing them about the barge and its restoration. And in wonderful sunshine, what could be better than sitting on the deck of a Thames sailing barge watching the ships go by.” The picture is by Dave Brooks and shows Julie Brooks holding out our Thames 2012 pennant. Nice one you guys and thanks Tricia for your help manning the barge!
